Vieques is an island off the east coast of Puerto Rico. There are a ton of things to do in Vieques including trying amazing food, experiencing fun water activities, and catching gorgeous views. I had the luxury of visiting Vieques, experiencing and learning my way through the whole island. Getting from San Juan to Vieques is about an hour car ride and a ferry trip, so it’s a pretty easy trip!

  • Fun Boat Tours in Vieques
One of the main attractions of Vieques is the crystal clear water. Going on a Vieques boat tour is a great way to see parts of the island you can’t see from land. You might even see some wildlife! You can snorkel, clear bottom kayak, paddle-board, or dive off the back of the boat on these trips to make your experience memorable. You can also get a BBQ lunch on this boat tour with Nautical Mermaid Charters!

  • Catch a Sunset Sail in Vieques
Are you on the east side of Puerto Rico, but still want to catch a sunset? Vieques sailing charters are some of the best in Puerto Rico! You can watch the sun go down, see the sky change colors, all while in a beautiful Catamaran. Just don’t forget your sea legs! This particular sunset sail includes complimentary drinks and being on a Catamaran means you can enjoy the view from a trampoline on the bow!

You can see turtles, starfish, lobsters, schools of huge fish, rainbow fish, beautiful coral, and more! The water is clear and gives you about 20 ft of visibility, although it ranges depending on the location, and time of year. • Bioluminescent Bay Tours: Discover the Magic of Mosquito Bay
Would you like to feel like a wizard? Head over to one of the most beautiful parts of Vieques, Mosquito Bay, also known as Vieques Bioluminescent Bay. This bay is home to the most protected and brightest bioluminescence in the World. The bioluminescent bay is near Esperanza on the south side of the island. While there are a ton of Vieques Mosquito Bay tours to choose from, Melayas Tours is a great option since they do drop off and pick up in town. They also have clear bottom kayaks which definitely adds to the experience.

It’s best to do bioluminescent Bay with the least amount of moonlight possible, but no worries since Melaya’s tours does not offer availability when it’s a full moon, so you don’t have to do your own research. They also have amazing and hilarious tour guides that are knowledgeable about the stars, and the bay itself, so you’ll learn a bit while you’re out there!

  • Explore Vieques Beaches!
If you ask anyone in Puerto Rico what their favorite thing to do on Vieques is, they’ll say a day exploring the beaches. It’s a popular day trip for the locals with the entire south side being covered in gorgeous, Vieques beaches with clear water and soft sand. Which beach in Vieques is best? You can take this Vieques beach tour to find out! Some Puerto Ricans agree that Caracas is the best beach in Puerto Rico! Each little beach has something to offer with different slopes, snorkeling or scuba diving spots, caves, views, and so much more. The black sand beach is also a crowd pleaser. The black sand sparkles in the sun and you can walk down to the cliff walls and see bright green algae and snails. The black sand beach is also a great place to look for rocks and sea glass, just maybe bring shoes since it’s not as soft as the other beaches!
